History of The Historic Sportsman Inn

Built as a country club for well to do big city visitors from Chicago, the Sportsman Inn has been a draw for tourists and local folks as well, since 1928. As a family run business, the Sportsman gained a reputation for excellent service and fine food. In April of 2006 a new ownership group, dedicated to saving the "Historic Sportsman Inn", purchased the property. They breathed new life into the old lady, vowing to restore her beauty. We at the Sportsman Inn hope that your visit with us is exceptional. Let us help you relive those memories from the past or help you create the memorable events that will someday be memories to share with your friends and family. Thank you for visiting.

Michael Kelsey Live on The Sportsman Deck 9:00pm
08-20-2010
When you listen to his music and see him perform live you're witnessing more than a just another singer-songwriter. You're watching a rhythmic, inspired guitarist and performance artist who brews soul, funk and even a little bit of the blues into a guitar festival of organic sound. Multi-instrumentalist Kelsey has been known to blend many musical genres with fervour and grace. When he hits the stage to perform, he plays every inch of his guitar and makes it sing, soar, pop and ping--by strumming it, pounding it and pulling every part of it or anything else an arm's length or foot kick away. He has created a style that he described best as "progressive-aggressive acoustic guitar," and he has only begun to make a first impression. Mark your calendar today! As always there will be no cover charge.Check him out at           http://www.michaelkelsey.com/
Art and Dan from Dulcet Road
08-28-2010
With a modest nod to contemporary artists Wilco and Son Volt to old time favorites Tom Petty and the Rolling Stones, Chicago-based Dulcet Road is the brainchild of singer/songwriter/guitarist Art Croyle. These rootsy rockers perform music that harkens back to simpler times, when bands didn’t need gimmicks to gain acceptance and popularity, instead relying on great songwriting and musicianship to reach an audience. Croyle’s heart on a sleeve lyrics evoke real world images of everything from corporate America takeover, all night college parties, to the small town eccentric. Join them on the deck(or inside if the weather forces it) from 9:00 until midnight!
